POSITION: Electrical Engineer JOB TYPE: Full Time LOCATION: Westerville, Ohio
The qualified Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the development of the process control systems which requires a working knowledge in many engineering disciplines, electrical, mechanical, chemical, and civil disciplines utilized in the development of a process control system.
Job Description
• Designing a process control system includes calculating power load requirements, selection and design of system communication networks, instrumentation selection, control enclosure design
• Development of electrical schematics, and programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)
• Possess strong troubleshooting skills for not only electrical systems but of various mechanical processes
• Investigating and solving process control system faults on client sites is another responsibility of the electrical engineer
• Selection of the proper process instrumentation and proper installation methodology
• May be required to install the process system equipment or oversee the installation of the equipment by sub-contractors
• Requires the flexibility for travel and the ability to work closely with clients to provide a successful process control system
• Develop specifications/standards for new and replacement instruments
• Develop scope of work documentation for capital projects which include bills of material, which includes make/model/manufacturer and cost; man-hour estimation for the work scope(s) to be completed; modification impact to site drawings
• Prepare schematics and controls drawings for implementation
• Estimate costs for equipment and services
• Provide design for installation and termination of instruments per client and OEM specifications
• Provide programming for PLC and HMI devices utilized for process control
• Provide technical assistance to modify the facility using good engineering and maintenance practices
• Review project proposals, owner/contractor specifications and any other requirements for preparing projects
• Prepare design information and the documentation for the assigned capital expenditures, major maintenance and/or construction activities they are assigned
• Ensure documents are approved to support the successful completion of the relevant construction activities
• Work with the site personnel to understand the key issues and identify ways to improve the operation by using good engineering judgment and solutions
• Ensure the appropriate operational procedures are followed during the installation of the project
• Ensure construction practices as required follow operations/execution with federal, state, local and plant codes policies
• Ensure designers perform quality work and address any deficiencies
• Help prepare regular progress reports and other information to reflect on going work
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Aid in ensuring the employees follow LATA’s safety policies /procedures
• Must have industrial experience in a chemical, industrial, paper or manufacturing facility with exposure to construction practices
• Knowledge of industrial controls, including DCS, PLCs, process instrumentation, VFDs and industrial safety equipment
• Must personally set a good example with all rules and regulations to achieve 100% universal compliance with HS&E (Health, Safety & Environmental) Procedures/Regulations
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office
Basic Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
• Electrical PE License preferred
• 3-8 years of engineering experience
• Must Pass a Background Check and Drug Screen
• Must be a US Citizen
