POSITION: Health & Safety Officer JOB TYPE: Full Time LOCATION: Livermore, CA

Job Description

The qualified HSO will support Lawrence Livermore National laboratory ensuring personnel have completed medical surveillance monitoring (BeLPT testing) and ensures compliance throughout the facility.

• Ensuring compliance with the Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program in the field

• Calibration of personal breathing zone pumps

• Sample preparation, packaging, and labeling

• Assigning workers to personal BZ pumps

• Maintaining sample and personnel records

• Completing sample COCs, ensuring samples are shipped to the laboratory for analysis

• Notifications to employees of any exposures and communicating with the Lead Health and Safety Officer

• Ensuring personnel have completed medical surveillance monitoring (BeLPT testing)

Job Requirements

• Demonstrated experience ensuring compliance with the Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program in the field

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or related field

• 5 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Officer

• Additional site-specific training will be required

• Work schedule 5/10-hour workdays (50 hours per week)

• Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug test

• Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within the DOE complex preferred

• Safety Professional Certifications (i.e., CSP)

• OSHA 30 Certification

• First Aid
