Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA), a provider of premier engineering and technical services with over four decades of success, has an immediate opening for an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Technician / System Analyst in our Westerville, Ohio office.
Summary of Position: The selected candidate will be a dynamic individual with the ability to program and commission automated remediation systems, troubleshoot systems, and communicate directly with clients, engineers, project managers, operators and other project personnel. Travel is required to various project locations and may constitute up to 50% during system installations and startups.
Essential Functions: This position will be responsible for programming automation and controls systems involving PLCs (programmable logic controllers), instrumentation, and HMIs for environmental remediation systems. The I&C Technician will specify instruments, design system architectures, maintain, and test control systems and components. Must be able to create and read logic and flow diagrams for program design, programming, simulation testing, and start up. Ensures systems and components meet established specifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• PLC programming experience on Allen-Bradley platform and other brands • Specification and integration of system instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, etc.) • Control panel layout and equipment specification • Analog and Digital I/O • HMI screen layout and programming • Selection and programming of VFDs • Project site support for system commissioning, startup, and operator training • System documentation and as-built record drawings • Experience with AutoCAD • Must have knowledge of MS Office • Ability to communicate effectively with management and administrative staff • Capability to work as part of a team • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected • Must be able to travel to various project locations
Requirements: • Requires 5 years of I&C / programming experience. • Requires a HS Diploma or its equivalent, higher education preferred. • Must have solid knowledge of PLC system architectures with a variety of field, plant, and system experience. • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
