We have an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Operator located in Los Alamos, New Mexico office.

The Heavy Equipment Operator will support demolition, removal of underground waste lines and utilities, sampling, excavation, and remediation activities.
* Work Location* Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM Responsibilities • Utilize excavator with and without hydraulic thumb • Disconnect accessible contaminated underground industrial waste lines utilizing shears • Size reduce, load, and package potential radiologically contaminated material

    including concrete, soils, tanks, and associated materials

• Excavate, cut, crimp, and remove industrial waste lines • Excavate exploratory trenches up to 10’ below ground surface • Remove soils and backfill material to 10’ below ground surface • Remove underground tanks, septic tanks, and building structures • Remove manhole covers using excavator with thumb attachment • Backfill and grade excavations

Qualifications Education and Experience: Minimum high school graduate.
Experience working in radioactively contaminated areas. Previous LANL experience preferred

Knowledge of: Universal waste and hazardous material handling Radiological Work Practices General safety practices

Skill in:

Utilizing heavy equipment specifically excavators with and without hydraulic thumb Utilizing shears Excavating trenches, tanks, and building structures Size reducing, loading, and packaging waste Backfilling and grading to restore landscape

Required Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations: Valid Driver’s CDL Rad Worker II Physical Demands & Working Environment:
